Bloomsburg Drops Pair to Kutztown in Softball

KUTZTOWN--The Bloomsburg University softball team dropped a twinbill to Kutztown University on Saturday by scores of 2-0 and 2-1.
In the opener, the Huskies had its leadoff hitter reach base in four of the first six innings, but could not score. In the seventh inning, the Huskies got a two-out double from Alyson Taylor (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore), her second of the game, but Kutztown pitcher Stacey Denlinger got a strikeout to end the game.
Kutztown's offense came on single runs in the third and fifth innings with Adriane Willmer hitting a sacrifice fly in the third, while Jennie Lincoln homered in the fifth.
In the nightcap, Kutztown took a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI single by Stephanie Denlinger. The game stayed way into the top of the seventh when Tara Emery (Sunbury/Shikellamy) singled to lead off the inning and was replaced by pinchrunner Jess Snader (Mount Joy/Donegal). Snader advanced to third on a bunt and a ground out and scored on a wild pitch to tie the game.
However, Kutztown won it in the bottom of the seventh when Stephanie Denlinger hit a homer to lead off the frame and handing a loss to Bloomsburg pitcher Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport).
Bloomsburg falls to 25-11, 8-4 in the PSAC East, while Kutztown goes to 21-12, 7-5 in the PSAC East. Bloomsburg plays at East Stroudsburg on Monday at 2:30 p.m.
